English Language Challenges

Hi everyone, in this few last week today I will write you about my experience with english language at university.
Well, for be honest all the things that I know about english I learned in school. I've had english courses since I was on third of primary school, so I have learned this language practically all my life.
Here at the university I enter in english III the last semester, but when I've told that I had to take an english course, the first thing that I thought it was that this english course it will be about technical stuff of the career, like the name of compounds, the instruments of the laboratory and things like that. So when I found that this courses it will like the regular english class, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed 'cause I was really excited about learning chemical thing in english...
The first course that I take here (english III) was a good experience because I could remember a lot of the things that I have forgotten, also the professor (Victor Rubio) was a really good teacher, he made dynamic class, the ambient was very nice and in occasions he give us little pieces of chocolate.
Here in english IV, I have learned a lot of how interact with people when I travel, of course I know how to establish a regular conversation, but the things that I've learned here more like how to interact in a hotel, if a I have problems,etc that will be very helpful when I have to go out side the country.
I things I need to improved will be the vocabulary 'cause some times I don't know the meaning of the words and practice more the reading part.
                                               

Changes to my study programme

Hi everyone, in this new post the topic will be about the changes that I think my study programme needs.
Well first of all I think the faculty of chemistry and pharmaceutics science needs serious changes of infrastructure for example the library, they don't have all the books that we need or aren't enough, in tests period this is really problem 'cause all need that particular book and there only exist 5 copies for 150 studients... Other place that need to improve is the computation room because not all the computers are in good conditions or connected to the internet.
The laboratories also need to renovate their equipment, many time that I go to lab, the material is broken, not completely but still. The compounds aren't enough for each one of us so we have to borrow for another classmate, etc.
For my specific career I think the courses that we have are really good and the curriculum its very full compared with the others university, but I think we need more courses that develop the skills to interact with people, to be more aware that we are selling drugs to people 'cause nowdays the industry and the pharmacys are only interested on sell products, not so much about people health. I think the reason of this its because the universitys are mostly focus in the scientific area and completely forgotten about the humanistic side of the career. Yes, I know we are in a science career but we can't forget that we are working for people, for their health, not only sell and make money.

                              

Summer Holidays

Hi everyone, new day, new week and new topic for the blog. Today's topic I will write you about my summer holidays of this year, or at least the few weeks that I have free :(
For this year I have two plans for vacations, the first is go in a travel with my family somewhere out of Santiago, I don't know yet where we are going but a few days ago I talked to my mom to go out to "Los vilos" 'cause a friend of  my mother invited us to her house, or the other options that I have in mind is go out to some valley, anywhere, just go there 'cause the landscapes are so beautiful (and it look so fresh there)
The second plan is go in vacation with my friends, every year we escape at least a weekend to any beach that reach are budget, but I'm not sure about if this years will be possible because my semester end the 15th of january and the most of my friends are already in holidays, so maybe they can leave soon to the beach and I wont be able to go with them 'cause probably I will be on test period.
Anyway, anything could happen and maybe I ended here in Santiago going nowhere, but that's fine for me... The only thing I really wanna do for this summer is rest and sleep 12 hours a day because this semester has been hard and I felt like a long long time I don't have a moment of peace. I only want that the semester ends please :(...
   

Drugs

Hi everyone, today's blog I will write you about drugs and addction in my particular case. No, I'm not a drug addict or something, its just the topic of today.
But... but  I  have to be honest, I can't deny that I have my bad habit about it. For example I don't smoke or inhale anything, but I admit that in every party that I go or an occasionally friday at the university, I drink alcohol until to get drunk, not like stranded in the floor throwing up, but until here in Chile we know as "Quedar arriba de la pelota".
I have try other drugs like cigar and marihuana, but I don't like it and never really call my attention this type of drugs, also I have to say that I like running, so smoking it's totally out of the picture. (Yes, I know its a little cynical take care of your lung and not your liver...but it is what it is)
I don't think alcohol have any benefits, it's just for fun and having a good time... or a bad time if you abuse it.
Like any other thing, all depend of the quantity, if you have an addiction to alcohol like drink until get black out and don't remember anything, you have a problem 'cause it can bring you liver problems, cancer, neurological damage, depression and many other terrible things that you can avoid only taking control of the alcohol that you drink.

Post Graduate studies

Hi everyone ! today's blog will be about the post graduate studies. First of all I really don't know if I wanna do post graduate studies, of course I had thought the option, but it seem so far because I'm only in the first year of my career (pharmacy) that I never take seriously this idea, for the other part do any post graduate studies takes a lot of time, effort and money that I'm not sure if I wanna spend it, don't take it wrong I like my career and all about it but I don't wanna be studying all my life.

The times that I had think this possibility its seem like a good option do a PhD over a Master degree 'cause I would like to work in the investigation field, descovering new compounds and creating new medication for a weird disease, and you can only do this with a PhD.

The courses that I will take if I do the PhD will be pharmacological science or pharmacology, both given here at the university of Chile or maybe if the opportunity appears do the PhD out side Chile, like I say before I had never really thought about it. 

Maybe in a few years forward I don't think the same, maybe I will be eventually do a PhD or at least a Master degrees 'cause the world moves too fast and every day it's more exigent, so I really don't know.  For now I'm only focus in finish my first year of career. 

                       

My future Job

Hi everyone, today I'm going to talk you about my future job, or at least the job that I want.
Well, today's I'm only in the first year of university, studying Chesmistry and Pharmacy, so you understand that the job that I expect have to be related with the career that I'm studying. Thanks to the career has many areas of study, I have the possibility of work in many differents fields, for example I can simply work in a drugstore (the most comun thing), passing to a laboratory in the all indrustial thing about drugs or even work in PDI ( the chilean version of FBI), there is so many options to chose and I'm not sure yet about the area that I wanna work, but I have some ideas.
The first thing that it come to mind when I think in my laboral future is me working in a laboratory creating new compounds for a very terrible disease, I will love that ! but it is a little difficult because you have to do a PhD and here in Chile there is not work field. My second option is working in some field directly related with health area like Hospital Pharmacy (where your are management all the drugs of the hospital) or Clinical Pharmacy (where you participate in the diagnostic of a patient with the doctors).
I don't really know about the salary, but I think it will be a good one. Also I already have a experience in this fields 'cause the last semester in one of the courses took me to visit this areas, so I already have a little idea of what will be work in this fields so I'm only hopping the better for the future.

            

Music in my life

Hi everyone, in this cold day I'm going to talk about one of the most worderful things in life, music.

If you ask me what is my favorite kind of music, I really don't no what to say 'cause I like it all, yes I know it's sound weird that I don't have a favorite gender, but it's truth, I like it all, since metal music until reggeaton music, all depends of my emotional state. For example when I'm in the mood I like to listen electro music (specially Martin Garrix) or reggeaton; when I'm more like power I like to hear bands more heavy like a Day to Remember or Disturbed. Like a I say, it'r really depend of the day and how I feel.
Also I have to say that I specially enjoy some of the chilean music like Los Bunkers, Ana Tijoux, Camila Morena, Inti Illimani, Villa Cariño, De Saloon, and some others band. I mention this because I think that are really good chilean bands or singers that don't have credit enough.
Nowdays I'm really into Ana Tijoux, she have really goods songs and the letter of her songs are even better 'cause they have social content like the repression of minority, the empower of the woman and things like that.
